Democracy in higher education has been profoundly lacking in recent years. This is evident in the alarmingly low voter turnout rates among students, the challenges we face in identifying and nurturing successors for leadership roles, and the troubling trend of activists being denied access to crucial discussions that shape our academic landscape. These issues highlight a critical need for action; we can no longer stand by and accept the status quo.

In response, the LOF organization is stepping up as a frontrunner in a new democratization campaign. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment within our universities, where every voice is heard and valued. To achieve this, we are collaborating with various organizations, including PAX, FNV Young & United, and UvA CSR. Together, we are developing a comprehensive strategy to further democratize our institutions. Our goal is to establish a robust lobby group and support network dedicated to promoting and strengthening democratic practices within the university.

This campaign will encompass multiple events and discussions, bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise. We believe that by uniting our efforts, we can effectively advocate for meaningful change and create a more democratic academic environment for all.
